"Unfortunately, legislative change is required before Glasgow can create a pioneering SDCF, which would also reduce the number of overdoses and help cut blood borne diseases."

SDCF reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs.10.8 million on net sales of Rs.535.4 million for 2009-10 (refers to financial year, April 1 to March 31), against a PAT of Rs.10.5 million on net sales of Rs.567.3 million for 2008-09.

Glasgow was pinpointed at a parliamentary inquiry earlier this month as the European city most in need of a SDCF, similar to facilities installed in more than 100 cities in places such as France, Spain, Switzerland and Canada - none of which has suffered from the level of drug injecting harms as Scotland.
