A group of students from Virginia Tech University, USA, won a Dh900,000 prize on Wednesday for designing and building a sustainable, solar-powered house of the future as part of the UAE's first Solar Decathlon Middle East (
SDME).
Team Sapienza
SDME project "ReStart4Smart", aims to show, with the support of sponsors and patronage of excellence, the most advanced technologies in the design and construction of a sustainable house able to meet the demands of efficiency, functionality, comfort and affordability characteristic of the 21st century architecture: a smart, sustainable and totally autonomous house, that will focus on "shape, envelope, systems and people".
Dubai is hosting the first two
SDME competitions, which is organised for the first time in the Middle East and Africa, with prizes totalling Dh20 million for the first and second
SDME.
In this study, a method for Sb (III) determination in water samples by
SDME combined with GFAAS was proposed.
This method is especially advantageous for the enrichment of volatile compounds and shows higher extraction stability than suspended
SDME by adding an annular platform.
The proposed
SDME model aims to reduce computation time by skipping certain MBs while maintaining RD performance.

On this innovative soil, the UAE is once again demonstrating why tomorrow's sustainability plan needs to be built today through the launch of the first Solar Decathlon Middle East (
SDME), an initiative that could well be a game changer for the region.
Summary: On Wednesday, Dubai played host to 15 houses of the future as part of the Solar Decathlon Middle East (
SDME) contest.
Teams participating in the first Solar Decathlon - Middle East (
SDME) 2018 have started to construct the houses they designed for the competition at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, said Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) in an introductory meeting for the teams.
