THE SAFE DRINKING WATER FOUNDATION (SDWF
) is coming out swinging after what they say was a threatening call from the Indian and Northern Affairs Senior Policy Manager of Legislation and Regulation.
"The reason being, is that in 1999, the Safe Drinking Water Foundation (SDWF) became involved.
"But the SDWF became involved and actually developed what's called a bio-filtration system," she said.
The Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Foundation (SDWF) "soundwaves" project has received two years funding from Britain's giant Vodafone mobile phone company.
"The eventual objective is to establish a number of underwater transmitting microphones in the estuary," said Dr Simon Berrow, a marine biologist and SDWF project officer.
It is planned to transmit the sound from the microphone via the mobile phone network to the SDWF's Kilrush base in Co Clare where it will then be streamed on the Web.
