This year onwards, we anticipate the CSE to appreciate by at least by 20 per cent per annum," SECSL Chairperson Indrani Sugathadasa made this remark to a gathering of capital market stakeholders on January 14, 2011.
Unveiling SECSL's five-point three year plan to develop country's capital market in 2011, she added that there were 50 to 60 new Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) planned during the year, of which nearly 25 would be Registered Finance Companies (RFC) listing in compliance with a directive issued by the country's banking watchdog- the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
"They are to improve and facilitate capital market infrastructure, liquidity and introduction of new products in the capital market, encourage and broadening of issuer base and investor base, enhance the SECSL's performance through effective alignment and management of human, information and financial capital," she said.
