In addition, approved changes to Rule 6-25.2(e) modify the composition of the SFGAP Certification Committee to reduce the minimum number of committee members in private practice from three to two; remove the requirement that at least one committee member be "employed" by a federal government entity; establish that at least two members have substantial experience in government litigation; and remove the requirement that the committee include at least two members whose state and federal government and administrative practice is primarily non-litigation, and that all members should have experience in rulemaking and adjudication.
"State and federal government law and administrative practice are distinct legal practice areas, and differ greatly from local or municipality law," said section member Bill Williams of Tallahassee, who chairs the SFGAP certification committee.
The section finished its year by hosting the State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice (SFGAP) certification exam review course in April 2011.
Inaugurated in 2007, the certification in State and Federal Government and Administrative Practice (SFGAP) has already reached a critical mass of nearly 100 board certified lawyers.
The GLS Committee on Certification chaired by Keith Rizzardi continues to work hard to let SFGAP flourish.
