have vowed to continue their agitation for the creation of a separate Sadar Hills District until the government caves in to their demands.

The SHDDC imposed economic blockade of the state began from August 1, as a counter to it the United Naga Council imposed an economic blockade from August 21 onwards.
Local shopkeepers welcomed the lifting of three months long economic blockade by the SHDDC but were apprehensive about the UNC blockade along national highways 37 and 39.
The SHDDC's decision to end the blockade came after a marathon meeting with the state government, which went late into the night.
Members of SHDDC on the other hand are adamant on their demand refusing to heed to local sentiments.
The SHDDC demand has met tough resistance from United Naga Council.
Recently, Naga students living in Delhi under the aegis of Naga Students Union protested against the SHDDC, saying that their demand is illegal.

While giving a review of their meeting, one SHDDC delegate said Chidambaram had advised Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi Singh to resolve the issue amicably and hold talks with SHDDC leaders.
Since July 31, the SHDDC has imposed an economic blockade in Manipur.
C Doungel, one of the members of SHDDC during a news conference in the national capital said: "The blockade will continue until the government agrees to our demands." He added the longer the blockade continues more will be the damage to the government.
