Public housing is managed by state and territory governments, community housing is run by not-for-profit housing organisations, and SOMIH
is a specialist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander program.
Across Australia the highest rating in both public housing and SOMIH was by tenants in Queensland at 90% and 86% respectively, while South Australia had the highest rating for community housing at 92%,' Mr James said.
New data showed that 3% of public housing tenants, 4% of community housing tenants and 5% of SOMIH tenants used domestic and family violence services in the 12 months prior to the survey.
'The report shows that social housing tenants satisfaction with their housing provider varied across social housing program type with the highest satisfaction nationally for community housing tenants (74%) followed by public housing (65%) and SOMIH
(59%),' said AIHW spokesperson Geoff Neideck.
