Sual Partners, a company that owns 15.8 percent share in United Co Rusal (0486.HK), is planning to sell its shares, Vedomosti daily has reported, citing unnamed sources.
This increase was primarily due to Rio Tinto's $38.1 billion acquisition of Alcan and the $30 billion merger between SUAL, RUSAL and Glencore International.
On 1 February, the European Commission approved a deal whereby EN+ acquires the aluminium assets of Glencore and Sual. The transaction will involve the creation of a new company, UC Rusal, which will take over the targets' assets and act as a holding company between EN+ and its current Russian subsidiary Rusal.
