Both PWSE and SWSE concepts require operating the cooling tower in winter.
For SWSE piping configuration, the hydrostatic path through the chiller and heat exchanger in series during the partial waterside economizer generates the highest pressure drop, compared to the operation of mechanical cooling by chiller and full waterside economizer.
A plate and frame heat exchanger is essential equipment for both PWSE and SWSE systems.
Both PWSE and SWSE can be retrofitted to an existing water-cooled chilled water plant.
The second source of items for the SWSE was the Practice Skills Inventory (PSI) (O'Hare & Collins, 1997).
The SWSE, which is provided in Table 1, is the combination of these two sets of items: items 1-19 from the ESSW faculty, and items 20-52 from the PSI.
The SWSE takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
To examine the construct validity of the SWSE, it was compared with a scale measuring empowerment, which is considered common to a wide range of social work practice models.
In a pilot study during the 1997-98 academic year, the SWSE and the RSE were examined in relation to SWE.
The amount of pre-post change for the total SWSE and all of the subscales was converted to the effect size-[U.sub.3] shown in Tables 3 and 4 (Cohen, 1988; Gorey, 1996; Gorey, Thyer, & Pawluck, 1998; Grenier & Gorey, 1998).
