The impact of metastases to the bone can be devastating for skeletal homeostasis and cause sequelae such as bone pain, pathological fractures, hypercalcemia, the need for palliative radiotherapy or surgery to bone, and neurological impingement resulting from spinal cord compression, often referred to as skeletal related events (SREs).
