The first phase of the project involves the construction of a crude distillation unit with capacity of 400 million barrels of oil per day (MBOD), a 210MBOD vacuum distillation unit, a 120MBOD visbreaker crude unit, a 50MBOD continuous catalyst regenerator, a 20MBOD isomerization unit, a 90MBOD diesel hydrotreater, a 30MMSCFD hydrogen plant, a 185 tonnes per day (TPD) (two trains) sulfur recovery unit, a 820 gallons per minute (GPM) amine regeneration unit, a 225GPM sour water stripper
, a tankage and related utilities, and the installation of controls, flares and safety systems.
Auxiliary units like Hydrogen unit, Amine unit, Sour Water Stripper
and an Effluent Treatment Plant are also in operation for producing prime quality products which are LPG, premium motor gasoline, jet fuels, kerosene, high speed diesel, light diesel oil, furnace fuel oil, Mineral Turpentine oil, Jute batching oil, solvent oil and various grades of bitumen.
The project will be executed on lump sum turnkey basis and includes the following main units: residue hydrocracking unit, hydrocracker unit, hydro desulphurisation unit, crude distillation unit, vacuum distillation unit, saturated gas plant, hydrogen production unit, hydrogen recovery unit, sulphur recovery unit, tail gas treatment unit, sour water stripper
unit, amine recovery unit, bulk acid gas removal unit, sulphur solidification unit and sulphur handling facilities.

Project STAR-TREC entailed the installation of a new hydro-desulfurization reactor, a new pressure swing adsorption unit, and additions to the existing sour water stripper
in the refinery.

Unit is responsible of the treatment and removal of ammonia and sulphur components before sending the sour water to the main water treatment unit in the refinery.
This project will ensure that the #3 SRU is capable of safely burning sour water stripper
off gas and becomes a viable spare for the new #4 SRU.
