After the deliberation of the CSDF, the first draft of the bill was discussed with institutions such as the Brazilian Bar Association, the Regional Medical Council, the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT), the Attorney General's Office and the General Controller's Office of the Federal District and TCDF advisers, which facilitated the discussion of the subject in the following phases.
TCDF contaminated pulps and wastewaters at all mills, and the sludges from four.
Abbreviations: ANA, antinuclear antibodies; HpCDD, heptachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; HpCDF, heptachlorodibenzofuran; HxCDD, hexachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; HxCDF, hexachlorodibenzofuran; LOD, limit of detection; OCDD, octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; OCDF, octachlorodibenzofuran; PCB, polychlorinated biphenyl; PnCDD, pentachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; PnCDF, pentachlorodibenzofuran; TCDD, tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; TCDF, tetrachlorodibenzofuran; TEF, toxic equivalency factor.
While all samples showed low levels of highly chlorinated dioxins -- those having 5 to 8 chlorine atoms per molecule -- only a few contained the 4-chlorinated dioxin, TCDD, and a somewhat less toxic 4-chlorinated furan, TCDF. Quantities of both were low--0.04 parts per trillion (ppt) TCDD and 1.0 ppt TCDF -- and appeared only in milk from plastic-coated cardboard cartons.
(2) In this issue of EHP, researchers examine how one POP in particular-2,3,7,8 tetrachlorodibenzofuran (TCDF)-affects the composition of the mouse gut microbiome.
In the present study, we used TCDF instead of TCDD, given its considerably shorter half-life in rodents (DeVito and Birnbaum 1995), and we used doses higher than those of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans typically found in the diet of adults [0.3-3.0 pg toxic equivalents (TEQs)/kg body weight] (Nakatani et al.
Abbreviations: DDE, dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene; DDT, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane; HpCDD, 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-heptachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; HpCDF1, 2,3,4,6,7, 8-heptachloro-dibenzofuran; HxCDD, 1,2,3,4,7,8-hexachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; HxCDF, 1,2,3,4,7,8-hexachlorodibenzofuran; OCDD, octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; OCDF, octachlorodibenzofuran; PBDE, polybrominated diphenyl ether; TCDD, 2,3,7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin; TCDF, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran.
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (TCDF) in pregnant C57BL/6N mice: distribution to the embryo and excretion.
With respect to [FT.sub.4], we observed a mixed response: There was a negative association with 2,3,7,8-tetraCDF (TCDF), 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF, 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDF, and OCDF and a positive association with 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDF and the three HxDF congeners (1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDF, 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDF, and 2,3,4,6,7,8-HxCDF).
We also examined 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (TCDF; [10.sup.-8] M) and 2,3,4,7,8-pentachloro-dibenzofuran (PeCDF; 3 x [10.sup.-9] M) (both from Wellington, Ontario, Canada), forskolin (5 x [10.sup.-5] M; Sigma, St.
Automated dose-response analysis and comparative toxicogenomic evaluation of the hepatic effects elicited by TCDD, TCDF, and PCB126 in C57BL/6 mice.
