After a five-day HRT, 91, 80 and 89% removal rates were achieved for COD, TKN and SS, respectively.

Total Kjeldahl nitrogen concentration (TKN) was estimated by clipping 10 turf sprigs (about 5 g), which were oven dried at 70 to 80[degrees]C for [greater than or equal to] 48 h, weighed, ground, and analyzed by the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Analytical Research Laboratory.
The content of ashes, organic matter, total organic carbon (TOC), total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN) and acid fiber detergent (AFD) did not show a defined tendency and their values were similar to the ones found in fresh A.
