According to the report,
trafficking for sexual exploitation is more common in Europe, Central Asia and the Americas while trafficking for forced labor is more frequently found in Africa, the Middle East, south and east Asia and the Pacific.

In 2006, the highest numbers of investigations and criminal proceedings for human

Officers were also praised for helping to rescue an 18-year-old Lithuanian woman from an address in Nuneaton as part of Operation Basil, an investigation into human

Despite this woeful track record on the international level, Guinn and Steglich reserve a bit of optimism for the emergence of common platforms for regional policy on
trafficking for sexual exploitation, drawn from the 1996 First World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, held in Stockholm.
While the country ''has made improved efforts to combat
trafficking for sexual exploitation, significant state-sanctioned use (especially by the military) of forced labor continued,'' says the report, which was released earlier this month.
