FO IOP is one of eight solutions currently being developed as part of the Four Dimensions Trajectory Management (4DTM) project, whose overall aim is to establish the technological building blocks for trajectory based operations.
The scientists on the TBO-Met project (Meteorological Uncertainty Management for Trajectory Based Operations) have developed an algorithm that is applied to the flight plan and allows air traffic to be predicted and improved by taking into account the uncertainties of the weather forecast.
