In one study comparing outcomes following microwave endometrial ablation and transcervical resection of the endometrium, women who underwent microwave ablation had a slightly higher rate of amenorrhea.
Two-year follow-up data from a randomized study of 263 women showed that the amenorrhea rate following microwave ablation was nearly 50%, compared with 40% for women who underwent transcervical resection of the endometrium.
