UCAC welcomes the recommendations made by the IWPRB.

UCAC, said: "For years teachers have not been properly valued or remunerated for their crucial contribution to the education and social development of our children and young people which has led to serious recruitment and retention problems in Wales and England.

UCAC is proud of the fact that we will have a curriculum that is specific to Wales; a curriculum that puts knowledge, skills and experiences firmly in a Welsh and international context.

UCAC's deputy general secretary, said: "We are pleased that Welsh Government has responded to our calls, alongside many others, to make a categorical statement about their intentions in relation to the immersion teaching model.

The industrial action was organised by the Welsh medium teaching trade union
UCAC which has 5,000 teachers, head-teachers and lecturers in Wales as members, and 3,500 of them are eligible to strike.

ASCL Cymru along with ASCL, NAHT Cymru, NAHT, NEU,
UCAC and Voice say the STRB needs to set a benchmark for teacher and school leaders' pay making them competitive with other graduate professions and to aid recruitment and retention.
Now in a letter to the
UCAC teachers' union, the Education Minister Huw Lewis revealed the extra grant money has been used to plug a funding hole in Wales's schools system.
Members of the Welsh teaching union
Ucac are staging a one-day action over plans to change their pensions.
UCU,
UCAC, NASUWT, Unison, GMB and NEU are now consulting members at Wales' 13 further education (FE) colleges on the revised pay offer from their employers.
