In 2006 the Cricket Committee of the International Cricket Council (ICC) adopted this idea and in October 2009 the ICC incorporated the idea into its set of Rules of Cricket under the name ' Umpire Decision Review System' or UDRS
as it was subsequently called without any acknowledgement to the contribution made by the true author of the concept.
According to the Daily Times, Latif is of the opinion that the International Cricket Council (ICC) should have introduced the UDRS
after a methodical review to make it as error-free as possible, adding that the system would continue to damage the game until its faults are rectified.
PCB will thus become the first cricket board to obtain sponsorship for the UDRS
Dhoni had raised a question mark over UDRS
"The inadequacy of the UDRS
has been exposed in the CWC 2011.
and the near-certainty of review virtually eliminates these benefits.
Ironically, England had serious reservations about the UDRS
following trials in their away series against West Indies earlier this year.
Rules which are primarily based on my 'player - referral' mechanism which I expounded for the first time in the world beginning in March 1997 (see letter to the Editor, 'Australian' - March 25, 1997) constitute that sensible approach.
Even without UDRS
the three online umpires were giving 96 per cent correct decisions, but with DRS that percentage hasn't improved."
India: Ireland captain William Porterfield was left fuming at the umpire review system (UDRS
) and felt batsman Gary Wilson s lbw ruling could have cost them the match against West Indies on Friday.
The Indian team has not been a big fan of the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS
) and captain MS Dhoni categorically said he didn't have full faith in it.
Kuala Lumpur, June 28 ( ANI ): International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO David Richardson on Thursday said India, or more specifically the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), could not be forced to accept the Umpires Dispute Redressal System (UDRS
