from 1996 to 1997, with a southeast (Alabama, Florida, Georgia) yield advantage over `Florunner' (Norden et al., 1969) of 1379 kg [ha.sup.-1] (Branch et al., 1997, 1998; Gorbet and Shokes, 2000).
UF91108 was evaluated in seven different states in the Uniform Peanut Performance Test
(UPPT) during 1993 to 1995 (Coffelt et al., 1995; Branch et al., 1995, 1996).
In 1997, the line was entered in the Uniform Peanut Performance Test
, in collaboration with breeders in the seven major peanut producing states.
It has been tested experimentally as VA 910954 in Breeder Tests, Early Maturity Tests, the Virginia-North Carolina Peanut Variety and Quality Evaluation Program, and the Uniform Peanut Performance Tests
. VA 98R was jointly released in 1998 by the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and the United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service.
