The first one came from Akemi Takada who worked on anime series 'Patlabor the Mobile Police,' 'Magical Creamy Mami' and '
Urusei Yatsura.'
In anime alone, it has been faithfully adapted (Episode 20 of Folktales from Japan, 2012), parodied (Episode 95 of
Urusei Yatsura, 1984) and reinterpreted (Episode 14 of Mushishi, 2005).
Evoking comparisons to fellow off-kilter guitar brandishers Joanna Gruesome, as well the likes of
Urusei Yatsura, Clinic and Guided By Voices, the foursome have also spread themselves across the airwaves rather efficiently, picking up plays on BBC 6 Music, Radio One and Radio Wales.
King Tut's Wah Wah hut sparks to life at 12.40pm with The Boho Sub Band, then Justin Lewis Orchestra, Soulwax,
Urusei Yatsura, Coldplay, 'A', Blackalicious, then Les Rythmes Digitales before Flaming Lips.
FINALLY,
Urusei Yatsura make the short hop from Glasgow to play at Belfast's Limelight Club tonight.
But for
Urusei Yatsura and Prolapse respectively, cult popularity has come easily.
A number of top Scots acts, including The Supernaturals, Geneva,
Urusei Yatsura and Arab Strap, will also be there.
WHEN they come to Belfast's Limelight on May 24, oddly-named Scottish indie pop merchants
Urusei Yatsura will prove why some tout them as the new Cornershop.
Look out for up-and-coming Scots talent too, when
Urusei Yatsura, Mogwai and The Delgados join forces at Jaffa Cake on August 19.
The Balado appearance by one of Britain's most photogenic pop groups may seem incongruous alongside the more left field acts such as Feeder, Looper and
Urusei Yatsura.
