When the amount of diisocyanate of the PU/VERH SIN systems exactly corresponds to the hydroxyl groups of polyether polyol and chain extender of the PU phase, by neglecting the pendent hydroxyl groups of VERH, the tensile strength for both PU/VERH SINs containing Arco-5613 or GH-330E as the soft polyol decreases with increasing PU content.
The situation differs when the pendent hydroxyl groups on the VEO backbone in VERH are taken into account for the amount of the diisocyanate of PU/VERH SIN systems.
It should be noted that for both PU/VERH (50/50) SIN systems, the tensile strength is about 5 times greater than that of the pure PU network, and the impact strength is about 2.5 times greater than that of the pure VERH network.
