The VEZ comprises a series of discordant pegmatoidal bodies which occur in the Ultramafic Series and probably occur intermittedly over the entire strike length of the Stillwater Complex.
The VEZ may extend for a strike length of 26 kilometres on the Beartooth property, from west to east covering the Blakely Creek, Lost Mountain, Iron Mountain North, Iron Creek and Nye Basin sectors.
Geological mapping, prospecting and soil geochemical sampling initiated in the third quarter 2004 outlined a number of drill ready targets within the VEZ, Chromitite and Basal Nickel-Copper sectors.
Ultramafic Series (harzburgite, bronzitite), averaging 2000 metres thick hosting chromite and Ni/Cu sulphide mineralization (Camp zone), both of which carry PGM mineralization; also hosts the VEZ or Volatile Enriched Zone, and the
Geological mapping, prospecting and soil geochemical sampling are in progress to prioritize areas of the VEZ, Chromitite and Basal Ni-Cu targets for drill testing.
The Company also intends to complete the last hole of the 2002 drill program and continue it's drilling across the VEZ
horizon both in the Chrome Mountain and Iron Mountain areas.
Based on this limited drilling, the grade of the PGM mineralization increases toward the northwest in the direction of the VEZ
The drill program outlined on the VEZ will initially include four drill locations, two each at the Iron Mountain and Chrome Mountain properties.
The results from these holes indicated an extensive area of PGM mineralization, with more than 50% of the assays containing PGM values, including some high grade intercepts as the drilling progressed toward the VEZ target (see press releases dated September 16, 2002 and October 10, 2002).
Along with the drilling, the Company plans to conduct extensive geophysical, geochemical and geologic follow-up work over selected portions of the JM reef, VEZ
, A and B chromites, basal massive sulphides, and the Picket Pin horizon.
