The training cycle includes the following topics: terrorist groups and defensive measures (taught by a highly experienced retired antirerrorism consultant), bazmat (taught by county firefighter hazmat experts), disaster preparedness (taught by the Red Cross), weapons of mass destruction (taught by the Nevada National Guard), and crisis management (taught by the command staff of the WCSO).

"There is no requirement that WCSO complete the rigorous and challenging process of maintaining national accreditation," the sheriff said, "but it is important for our entire staff to demonstrate to the residents of Worcester County that we are committed to professionalism by adhering to the highest industry standards.
However, I want to reiterate that all of these accomplishments were not due to any one elected official or appointee but rather a collaborative effort of the administration working closely with the managers, staff, and officers at the WCSO. Despite criticism from the pundits and, in my opinion, biased media coverage that all too often focuses on the negative and never the positive accomplishments of state government or institutions, I can assure you that the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction is a smaller, safer, and more secure institution than at any time in its history.
