The aim of this work is to analyze the network performance under which dynamic WR-OBS would bring significant operational advantages and, in particular, in the reuse, utilization of wavelength channels that are set up only for the required burst transmission time (termed wavelength holding time) and, thus, increased over a much simpler but less adaptable quasistatic logically fully meshed WRON.
This project describes and analyzes a WR-OBS network that combines the functions of OBS with fast circuit switching by dynamically assigning and releasing wavelength-routed light paths over a buffer less optical core.
