Compared with younger individuals, older patients with BD score lower on the
YMRS in the areas of increased activity-energy, language-thought disorder, and sexual interest.
The
YMRS has 11 items and is based on the subjective report of patient's clinical condition over the last 48 hours.
In the BD I group
YMRS score ([+ or -] standard deviation (SD) was 0.26 ([+ or -]0.97), BDRS score ([+ or -]SD) was 3.1 ([+ or -]3.05), BDI score ([+ or -]SD) was 4.9 ([+ or -]4.7), in the BD II group
YMRS score ([+ or -]SD) was 0.04 ([+ or -] 0.36), BDRS score ([+ or -]SD) was 3.5 ([+ or -]3.03), BDI score ([+ or -]SD) was 6.66 ([+ or -]4.78), in the control group BDI score ([+ or -]SD) was 4.9 ([+ or -]4.7), and there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of these scale scores.

The temporal relationship between HIV-1 activity and the mania severity (
YMRS) was illustrated in [Figure 2].{Figure 2}
Symptom severity was assessed using the Clinical Global Impression-Bipolar Disorder (CGI- BP) and Young Mania Rating Scale (
YMRS).
Assessments included the following: 16-item self-reported Flanagan Quality of Life (QOL) scale, the Beck Depression Inventory second version (BDI-II), Young Mania Rating Scale (
YMRS), the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), and the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) (Table 1).
1) Young Mania Rating Scale:
YMRS is one of most utilized scales for mania.
