The trait of impulsivity, which involves a lack of planning and a tendency to act without thinking, was operationalized using the 19-item ImpSS of the ZKPQ, which was developed in an attempt to define the basic factors of personality (Zuckerman et al., 1988; Zuckerman et al., 1993; Zuckerman et al., 1991).
To assess personality scores, I used the Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS-V; Zuckerman, 1994; Zuckerman, Eysenck, & Eysenck, 1978) and the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (ZKPQ; Zuckerman, Kuhlman, Joiremen, Teta, & Kraft, 1993).
The ZKPQ (and its shortened version ZKPQ-50-CC) has turned out to have a robust factor structure and acceptable psychometric properties in various countries (Aluja et al,, 2006), which can be explained by a strong psychobiological basis.
