From coast to coast, MacNeil and his co-author, William Cran, scoped out different voices (literally and figuratively) to learn how words differ according to time and place.
"The baseline frame weighs 226 kg.," says Cran, "and the new frame weighs just 174.4 kg., for a savings of 51.6 kg." Bending and torsional stiffness are 31% greater than the baseline, with a natural frequency of 25.0 Hz in torsion and 27.8 Hz in vertical bending.
