6 In a series of 72 children under 12 years with echo diagnosis of cardiomyopathy over a two-year period at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Karachi, HCM was reported in 31 (43 Percent), endocardial fibroelastosis in 18 (25 Percent), RCM in 10 (14 Percent) and DCM in 7 (10 Percent) cases.
This condition must be distinguished from other established clinical entities presenting prominent trabeculations including: apical hyperthrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia and endocardial fibroelastosis.
