Couce et al., "Leptin and leptin receptor expression in normal and neoplastic human pituitary: evidence of a regulatory role for leptin on pituitary cell proliferation," Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, vol.
To determine whether GIP was involved in leptin resistance, Fukuda and his colleagues first confirmed that the GIP receptor, the molecule on cells that binds to GIP and mediates its effects, is expressed in the brain.
These data indicate that GIP and its receptor in the hypothalamus, a brain area that regulates appetite, are necessary and sufficient to elicit leptin resistance.
While it usually triggers the sensation of feeling full when people have eaten enough, in obesity resulting from a high-fat diet or overeating, the body stops responding to leptin signals - it does not feel full and eating continues, leading to weight gain.
Owing to have key biological features, leptin is one of the most significant candidate gene marker for MAS studies (Friedman and Halaas, 1998; Aytekin and Boztepe, 2013; Hristov et al., 2012, 2013; Kok et al., 2017).
In this study we aimed to evaluate the relation of leptin with cognition in AD patients.
Additionally, our patient exhibited severe abnormalities of lipid parameters, usually found in patients with congenital leptin deficiency during late childhood or even adulthood, at 10 months of age (8).
To increase our understanding about leptin concentration in obese and its relation with BMI in local population of Jammu region, the present study was conducted to measure the serum leptin concentrations in obese subjects in a sample of adult population in the region and to compare with those of normal weight subjects.
Conclusion: Leptin-Kisspeptin-fertility link is expressed by maximum number of clinical pregnancies in the female group that showed strongest relationship between serum Leptin and Kisspeptin levels, irrespective of their BMI.
"Our study indicates a favorable relationship between leptin and sleep quality in obese type 2 diabetic patients," the authors write.
High median leptin levels were seen in 11.7% (n=15) of study subjects.
