In 1972, Rosai and Dorfman [2] performed clinicopathological analyses on 34 patients and named this disease sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy (SHML), which is characterized by painless lymphadenopathy, fever, patches of massive proliferation of histiocytes, and the presence of engulfed lymphocytes in the cytoplasm of these histiocytes.
[2] reported a case of sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy complicated by pathological fractures, kidney failure and liver cirrhosis, treated with cladribine.
